J-Day 2017 Preview

Your board is so excited to bring you J-Day 2017!

Save the date: Wednesday, March 29, 2017

J-Day has so much to offer you and your students this spring!

Details will be shared as they become finalized so keep your eyes open. After hearing from a few of you, we couldn’t resist a sneak peek:

  • A streamlined registration system.
  • Preshow with a staff photo slideshow, vendors to visit and games to play. Come early!
  • A keynote speaker with more than 20 years in the journalism business sharing his experiences as a young journalist.
  • Several vendors will be in the lobby area to meet with advisers and students. You can see what they have to offer, ask questions and more.
  • Four class blocks offering more than 30 sessions ranging from yearbook to newspaper/magazine to broadcast, photography, current events, trending topics and more.
  • At members’ request, advisers are invited to a short MIPA member update meeting. There are also more adviser sessions, including a roundtable where advisers can share challenges, best practices and favorite lessons, plus talk with the keynote speaker.
  • Write Offs and the Photo Shoot Off will be running with some revisions.
  • An awards ceremony honoring the Challenge and Photo of the Month winners, Student Journalist of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Administrator of the Year and more. There’s a new award this year for new advisers too! (soon to be launched)
  • In addition, we will celebrate the All-Missouri award winners on stage, and have other certificates earned ready to be picked up after the ceremony.

This is a valuable educational and celebratory day for your journalism students! We hope your publication staffs are able to join us at Jesse Hall and the MU School of Journalism in March!
