Greg Miller, co-creator of Kinda Funny, to keynote at J-Day

Greg Miller, who graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2005, will be the keynote for J-Day.

kindafunnyIf you’re a video game fan on the Internet, you probably know Greg Miller. For eight years, he was the face of IGN.com — the world’s biggest gaming website — and now he’s the front man for KindaFunny.com, a YouTube production popping out Let’s Plays, podcasts, and more Twitch streams than you can shake a controller at.

But before the 1.7 million Google Plus followers, the 180,000 YouTube subscribers, and the 200,000 Twitter followers, it all started with a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri. “Your journalism degree can take you wherever you want it to,” he wrote in an email. “I set out to get a degree in journalism to write about video games, but it led to me being the CEO of my own company and something of an Internet celebrity. Along the way, there was a stop as a reporter at a Mid-Missouri daily newspaper, but even there, I drove at my goal and shaped my role to fit my needs.Whatever you want to do in life, you can do it with this education.” [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdIXUFpsvFU?list=PLOlEpGVXWUVuElrLteyTjRtdQRK-eUkI9]
