From the eight fantastic student journalists entered in the MIPA Student Journalist of the Year contest, four finalists will move on to be reviewed in a second round by new judges.
After reviewing the judge’s feedback to all entrants and the tight grouping of scores earned by these four, the MIPA contest committee asked the national SJOY contest director how the national committee handles tight races. And she said that when several students are this tight in points, she asks for a second round of judging. MIPA will follow the national procedures and do so as well. We will inform MIPA members of those results soon.
The finalists, in alphabetical order by school, are:
Lee’s Summit West – Mackenzie Elliott
Notre Dame de Sion – Sophie Nedelco
Oak Park High School – Madison Russell
Washington High School – Lindsey Alferman
