MIJA Honor Roll
PURPOSE
Starting in 2023, the purpose of the MIJA Honor Roll is to recognize students who have contributed to their school’s journalism program for multiple years while also maintaining high academic achievement.
ELIGIBILITY
Any MIJA member may nominate any of their seniors who meet the following qualifications:
- Student journalist has achieved a 3.5 or higher grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during their high school career
- Student journalist has worked in student media for two or more years (this current semester counts as a full semester toward two years on staff)
SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submissions are due by Feb. 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. For a student to be considered, his or her adviser must complete a nomination form. A MIJA board member will verify the submissions. Honor Roll recipients will be notified by April 1.

AWARDS
The names of the Honor Roll recipients will be posted on the website and will also receive a certificate. Students may also order a MIJA Honor Roll Cord. Information will be emailed each year to the recipients on how to complete this process.
