Awards

MIJA offers our member schools several ways to have student work recognized:

• Monthly photo contests
• Challenges
• Individual Contests
• Overall Critiques
• Missouri All-State Journalism Team
• Student Journalist of the Year
• MIJA Honor Roll

MIJA also recognizes teachers and staff:

• Teacher of the Year
• Administrator of the Year
• Rising Star Award

MIJA also hosts the Contributing Medium, Knight and Taft awards.

• The Contributing Medium Award is given to a deserving media organization, business, individual or group who have provided outstanding support to scholastic journalism either to an individual school, a school district or MIJA, in some form.

• The Knight Award is given to a person, or group of people, who have provided outstanding service to scholastic or minority journalism and/or who have furthered student freedom of expression in Missouri.

• The Taft Award honors our tradition of recognizing excellence and dedication by awarding any person or group giving outstanding service to scholastic journalism and/or to MIJA.
