~ I am all about finding new articles and resources for my students. This one from Forbes is helpful for kids interested in the profession: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jennagoudreau/2012/11/09/top-10-tips-for-young-aspiring-journalists/
~ As well as this one from Poynter: http://www.poynter.org/how-tos/career-development/198780/10-ways-journalists-can-make-themselves-more-marketable/
~ Can print/broadcast journalism & social media REALLY work well together? Is Time brilliant in plotting its endurance for the long haul with this move (unlike other great print sources that have gone under)? I found the fact that Time and Twitter teamed up interesting… and something J teachers can appreciate.
How many of you use twitter to promote your tv show, newspaper or yearbook? If not yet, will you? My kids pushed me to a year ago, and we’re really increasing our viewership!
Here’s the Time/Twitter article: http://www.poynter.org/latest-news/media-lab/social-media/231208/twitter-time-team-up-for-person-of-the-year/
~ Summer Camp(s). There’s many all over the country to choose from. Personally, I am all over CAMP ASB. (formerly Camp STN) it’s housed here in Missouri. I send anywhere from 2 to 4 kids a year (four this summer) and the work that’s done in Lee’s Summit by Karrie Smythia is stellar.
